Peek a boo- I see you!!

This morning I decided to feel around in Delilah's mouth and go hunting... tooth hunting that is. I wanted to see if any of those pesky little toofers had decided to make an appearance yet. Low & behold there it was. A tooth!! The bottom right one has popped through :-D

After lunch today (it was so hard to go back to work!!) John called & said that Delilah wouldn't stop crying... she had been for 20 minutes. He put me on speaker phone so I could talk to her and immediately she stopped crying. She was also waving at the phone :-D What a sweet darling girl!!

That's it for today.. no new pics- sorry!!

My baby is a genius!

Ok- ok... I know that ~every~ parent says that & we're no exception (well mostly daddy) LoL Today Delilah waved back to me!! I am so proud of her! She also tried to crawl a little... I think it'll be very soon that she'll start crawling.

Today was her first full day with daddy... she did really well for him. She ate 1/2 a jar of applesauce, 1/2 a jar of sweet potatos AND took a 2 ounce bottle!! I was so happy that she actually took a bottle from him. Of course she complained all the way but what else can you expect from her mother's daughter? LoL Bottle take 2 didn't go very well but she still needs practice.

Work was ok today- it wasn't as good as yesterday & I actually had to call John to talk a little because I felt as though I was going to have a panic attack :-\ I don't think it helped that "J" was there today... the head department guy (he wasn't in yesterday). From the very beginning he's intimidated me & I hate it. I always feel so tense when he's there too... like I can't relax (which all stems from when I first started in that position & he watches what I'm doing or not doing. I can't help that I would finish all my work so quickly!). There's so much sh*t going on with that place... like how I was supposed to be promoted & haven't heard anything about that yet. I think "J" is pissed that I took that extra month but you know what- too fucking bad!! If I hadn't been there for so long I'd tell him to fuck off when I get to leave (but I don't want to burn my bridges... and I probably wouldn't have the guts to really do it LMAO).

One stylin' babe

At my parents on Sunday, Grammy Hans surprised us (well ok, not really... I knew about this Friday afternoon) with the cutest friggin sunglasses for Delilah. I just ~had~ to try them on!! Her that is, not me ;-) I can't wait to put them to the test along with her most adorable hat :-)

Today was my dreaded first day back... but, it wasn't so dreaded. It was actually a lot better than I expected. I feel like I wasn't away from her at all really... but that could be because I got to see her at lunch and will continue to be able to every day. I feel as though I betrayed her in a way because I don't feel like it was that bad & I feel totally ok with being back. Everyone was so nice in welcoming me back & weirdly enough it was like I wasn't gone for 6 months. At least I can take comfort in knowing that I ~will~ be ok until John gets a job and I can stay home (as long as it's not too far away ;-) ).

I just love this picture & hat... imagine that with sunglasses :-D

1 step forward, 2 BIG steps back

So after last night I thought, rather foolishly, that this morning would be a piece of cake with Delilah taking the bottle. Yea... no.... now I know she only took it once yesterday & she needs to keep practicing so it's not like I'm losing hope but I was just a little overly optimistic ;-)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So this afternoon I ended up giving in... that being said though, she ~had~ taken about 2 ounces of a bottle earlier so it's not like she didn't eat until then & I just gave in. Now, the reason I gave in is because it was ~sooo~ hot today & she had very little wet diapers. The last thing I wanted was a dehydrated baby. After we got home from my parents I tried to give her another bottle. I told her that if she took a bottle now I'd b. feed her later. That didn't work LoL So at bedtime we tried a bottle again... she would not take it. She was upset & just cried. Eventually- about an hour later- I ended up feeding her on the one side. I know that I didn't make it any easier after today & it'll probably be a lot harder now but like I said, I didn't want a dehydrated baby. If the weather was like yesterday I wouldn't have been giving in.

On another note- I go back to work tomorrow *insert hysterically sobbing emoticon here* I don't want to go back & I pray that John's right... he'll get a job & I'll get to leave. I said last night that I would live in this house forever if it meant getting to stay home with Delilah (at least until she's of school age). Wish me luck with my first day back tomorrow.

Bottles, balloons & applesauce

~EDIT: I posted this earlier but I reorganized the post to be how I wanted it. And I have an update to the first paragraph but I'll put that at the bottom under ~Update.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was talking to Ashley the other day about Delilah & her lack of taking a bottle. Ashley suggested that we try to get Delilah to take a bottle by refusing to breast feed her so that she has no other choice but to take a bottle. I knew that Ashley had a point, but I really didn't want to do it. I got to thinking though about how basically everything revolves around Delilah & whether she's been fed. I decided Ashley was right & something needed to be done. It would just be so much easier for John (and anyone that might watch her later) if she could take a bottle too. We were going to do it next weekend because I wanted my last weekend with her before I had to go back to work to be pleasant. But I realized that it would be better to do it now & not postpone it any longer.

So this morning was her last feeding from me and she has yet to eat... it's been 9 hours & 15 minutes... still no bottle. It's horrible- it's hard... but I haven't given in even though it breaks my heart to hear her cry like that. Please cross your fingers that she'll take a bottle by tonight (or earlier!!).

The other day we stopped in to Friendly's for some ice cream. Our very nice waiter brought Delilah a balloon- her very first!! Of course, we didn't get to get a picture & I'm not sure where the balloon disappeared to so I guess we won't be getting one. The same day Delilah tried applesauce... I was thinking that I didn't understand why they called it applesauce when bananas are just bananas. Well Auntie Ashley explained to me that they have applesauce ~and~ apples. Oops!

Yesterday we had Delilah's 6 month pictures done... we canceled with Sears and Auntie Ashley did them for us. Just the few that I got a preview of were fantastic! I am so excited to see how the rest of them turn out :-D Sears, eat your heart out! I think Ashley should give them creativity lessons!! LoL

~Update:
Well it only took 11 hours and 15 minutes but she finally took a bottle! We gave her a bath, took her upstairs for our bedtime feeding & story routine and it only got better from there. She still fought it at first... she made sure to let us know that even though she was giving in she still wasn't happy about it. She also didn't feed from it correctly. She had it on the side of her mouth & kind of chewed on it. But still still drank it! After she was done with the first 3 ounces I had John go and get another 2 ounces. He came back with that & she actually drank from the bottle correctly!! Now tomorrow morning we're going to start with John giving her the bottle and I won't be breast feeding her until tomorrow night. Wish us luck!!

Applesauce!

New firsts

Today was the first time that Delilah rolled over from tummy to back! Daddy had the privilege of seeing it first (:-\) but I caught it on video later :-D Also, Delilah had a taste of her first lemon. We were at the mall with Auntie Ashley, Shawn & Landon and Ash said how Landon had tried a lemon the other day. She asked if I wanted to let Delilah try one & I said sure. She seemed to really enjoy it actually! She did make a face but it was just about the same one as she always makes when trying new things LoL

I got home & John wasn't here. He went to Toys R Us to get Guitar Hero for the PS3 but I thought he'd be back by the time I got home. A minute after I got home so did he. He walked in the back door & I was teasing him asking where had he been. He came through the blanket (we have one up between the kitchen & the laundry room because the laundry room doesn't hold heat well) and he had roses!! He said they were to make me feel better for having to go back to work *sigh* :-D

Yesterday John, Delilah & I went for a walk with Auntie Ashley, Shawn & Landon. It was such a nice day with warm sunshine (well in the afternoon) and a nice cool breeze. I got Delilah this hat at Gymboree to help with the sun situation since she isn't rear facing in the stroller anymore & yesterday was the first time she wore it- it was too cute!

I like to ote, ote, ote oh-ples and bo-no-nos

Yesterday we gave Delilah her first fruit... bananas!! Auntie Ashley came over to take pictures of this wondrous event and they turned out so wonderfully! Also we did some Mother's Day shots which I thought turned out beautifully. Auntie Ashley is also going to do our 6 month pics (forget you S.ears!) which I am super excited about. Just looking at her work & seeing how fantastic she is and how far she's come... she's wonderful & deserves the best. I hope things really start picking up soon :-)

I'm so sad... and am starting to get these feelings of anxiety :-( I have to go back to work in a week. John still hasn't had any job offers let alone an interview and Ho.ls.um isn't hiring. John just applied to Evan.ge.lical hospital for an IT position. Please, please pray that he at least gets an interview! ~And~ getting a job there would be a great second prayer ;-D I'm hoping to hear from this pediatric practice about an interview for a medical receptionist position. I called last week & it sounded promising. When I told the lady my name she remembered my resume & said she'd be going through more resumes that night & the next day. They want to get someone hired immediately. John's also still trying to get in to Hol.s.um... he's calling once a week & leaving a message (he can't get a hold of the one guy 'cause he's ~super~ busy).

Anyway, enjoy pics of our first fruit experience & some of the fabulous Mother's Day pics Ash took.

Mary had a little lamb... but we found her!

~EDIT:

Also, on Saturday we went to Auntie Ashley's so that Jon & Ash could go out for their anniversary. Auntie Ashley had an Easter gift for Delilah- it was the most adorable Precious Moments prayer bunny. Delilah's first one. Thank you Auntie Ashley!

P.S. I didn't ~intentionally~ forget- John was hurrying me along to get out the door ;-)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday was Easter- Delilah's 1st. Daddy got a card from Delilah and of course, she got lots of great stuff from Mom & Dad :-) We got her a first Easter card, fisher-price "gumball machine", a fisher price Sing-a-long stage, the Pinocchio DVD, a stuffed bunny, a lion bank, a rattle, keys, a toy to play with when we go out to eat that sticks on the table, a lovey (a blanket with a stuffed animal head attached) & a book... Quackie & Quertie. Er, that's Gossie & Gertie rather ;-)

After we shared our Easter morning together we packed up & headed off to Grammy & Pappy Hans'. There we were greeted by not only Grammy & Pappy Hans but also Great Grandma Gerst. After 3 long months, give or take, she's back from Georgia. Delilah is so excited to have her back & to get to know her. From Great Grandma Delilah got the cutest, ginormous Easter card & monetary gift. From Grammy & Pappy she got a very cute card, monetary gift, basket w/candy (well that's more for mommy & daddy), 101 Dalmatians DVD, adorable Easter bunny & the fisher price Crawl n cruise magical jungle (which she LOVES).

Friday we went to John's parents for our Easter visit. It was a lovely visit where Delilah didn't cry for Grandma & PapPap. They also gave Delilah an Easter basket with candy (also for mommy & daddy) and card.

Yesterday Delilah made the funniest face- I don't even know how to describe it exactly but we call it "The Monkey Face". It was the first time she made it & as I was taking a video of her in her exersaucer I caught the face on camera & took a snapshot of it.

A playdate at Auntie Ashley's

Yesterday we went over to Auntie Ashley's for another play date (our last one didn't go too well with Landon feeling yucky from his top teeth coming in- poor lil guy). I just love it when these two little babies get together. They are so in love with each other- I love seeing both of their faces light up at just the sight of each other. And of course we can't forget Shawn who Delilah is also infatuated with (but not as much as Landon hehe). Auntie Ashley was kind enough to give Delilah a jar of green beans (it was dinner time for all of the little ones) and we got some really cute pics of her feeding herself. Ok, she wasn't really but she was playing with the spoon & it had green beans on it ;-)

Today Auntie Ashley & I went house hunting while John watched Shawn & Landon (we took Delilah). Auntie Ashley & Uncle Jon are looking in to moving from this hellhole we call Sunbury. Ok, ok... where we live isn't ~that~ bad but it is Sunbury still. I'm hoping we'll be able to join them in moving someday soon. Seeing the house we saw today definitely makes you appreciate what you have (not that it was horrible but it wasn't "The One").

John's road rage

That's right- John has road rage... or so some random woman told us today. We were on our way home from my parents (Grammy Hans got home today so we went up to get her from Grandma Gerst's house to take her home and visit a little) and came upon the turn to go in to the Hol.su.m parking lot (we turn there to then go down our alley to the back of our house). Suddenly this woman in a big SUV pulls out in front of us from Race Street (on the left) and goes straight (in to the parking lot). And of course, she's on her cell phone. John kind of does this thing he does where he gets a little too close (which scares me like usual), beeps his horn, and swerves around her (she stopped dead in the middle of Hol.su.m parking lot) and flies in to the alley. He turns in to the alley & parks the car. She follows us in to the alley. I say "Great." thinking 'O boy she's going to start screaming at us.'

She rolls down her window & at first is apologizing. She's not from around here, she thought it was a 4 way stop (it's not), and she's lost (there's a detour thing going on). John's like "That's ok. No problem" when she says "I don't appreciate the road rage." Oo boy- she shouldn't have said that! He starts yelling "Get the f*ck out of here!" And I'm saying to her "We have a BABY in the car!". In the midst of that she's saying she has two kids in the car and could we at least give her directions. John takes Delilah in to the house & I reluctantly go over to give her directions (I'm too nice to just walk away & leave her... and normally John would be too but she ~really~ pissed him off). I give her directions & she adds in again how she didn't appreciate blah, blah, blah... I ignored it.

We're lucky she didn't have a gun or something (because you never know!) and vice versa.

Ashley's right- I am going to get myself shot one day LoL

A busy Sunday

Today was a busy day for little Delilah... first we went to my parents' house to visit Pappy (Grammy is in Georgia bringing Great Grandma home- Delilah misses you Grammy!). After that we were headed out to Grandma & PapPap Williams' because we didn't get to go see them yesterday. Delilah, I think, was hungry & a bit tired (short nap on the way there) because as soon as we handed her to Grandma she started crying. It wasn't until a bit later when she was all fed & playing on the floor with Grandma that she was smiling & happy. She loves those little piggy toes!

Now, every Sunday Grandma & PapPap have guests come out to have dinner & play dominoes... one of those guests being Great Grandma Williams. We decided to visit until the dominoes crew came out so Delilah could visit with Gram Williams & little and we could get a few pics. She hasn't seen Gram Williams since before Christmas so she was a little unfamiliar with her & got the lip out ("stranger" anxiety is normal for this age).

Afterwards we headed down to Great Grandma Kurtz's house... to my surprise, since Delilah also has not seen Grandma Kurtz for a bit, Delilah didn't cry. At least, not right away. After a bit she decided she wanted her mommy (it was mommy day today!). Delilah did so well for such a busy day today... even when we got home when it was time for a bath & bed and she was tired she did really well. I'm so proud of lil munch!

The bib says it all ;-)

Peas and Carrots and Green beans- o my!

So yesterday Delilah tried her final vegetable... green beans! Now I don't think she liked them, but I don't think she didn't like them. Of course when you view the pictures you'll see she's made pretty much the same face that she's made with all the other vegetables. I want a FACE!! LoL Next on the agenda is fruit but I'm going to wait a little on those & just do vegetables for a few more weeks (and I promise Auntie Ashley that you WILL get to be present for the first fruit! ;-) ).

I was so proud of her yesterday- she was playing in her exersaucer & grabbed a hold of the hangy things and pulled on them! That was the first time :-) She also took a nice 2 hour nap in the afternoon... those kinds are rare... usually she only takes a nap for about an hour.

We're still trying the bottle- unsuccessfully. I'm not sure she'll ever take one. I really don't know what to do about it... and our pedi has no suggestions for us either. I just want to stay home with her... she needs her mommy... and mommy needs her. Come on Holsom :-\

Almost rolled over!

~EDITED~

Yesterday we visited Auntie Ashley for a playdate. Delilah was laying on her back on the floor and all of a sudden was rolling from her back to her tummy! Well almost... her right arm got in the way & instead of going over the rest of the way she flopped back on to her back.

* Today we went for a walk with Auntie Ashley, Shawn & Landon to our usual walking spot. Auntie Ashley brought along her new camera (an easy carry along point & shoot for just such occasions). I love our walks there & Shawn loves to walk too. He begs to get out & walk around and run up to the trees. He also likes to inspect the steps & knock on the doors of certain buildings. Shawn also decided to take Landon for a walk. He wouldn't bring him back though LoL

Tomorrow we'll be trying green beans. I hope they fare well for her stomach- the peas seemed to give her some trouble... or maybe that was because she hadn't pooped for like 2 days. I dunno- but sweet relief came yesterday (for her that is ;-) )
